TIMARU MARKETS.
Mr George Priest reports for week ending 29th March, 1890 : Wheat Considerable quantities have changed hands during the week, and prices are rather higher than last quotations, Tuscan, 2a B£d to 2s lOd; pearl and velvet, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; red chaff, 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Oats Owing to the scarcity of freights offering these have not advanced in price, in fact the demand is not so strong. Tartars have fallen considerably, and the market to-day stands at for Canadians, Is 5d to Is 6d; damsh, Is 2d to Is 3d; sparrowbills, Is 4d ; duns and tartars, neglected. Barley Large lines of prime malting have been offering both north and south, and till these are exhausted very few parcels from this district will be taken up. Quotations : Por prime malting, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Grass Seed—Scarcely so firm, but for clean well dressed formers’ parcels, from old pasture, 3s to 3s 3d per bushel. Peas—Prime blue prussians, 3s per bushel, f.o.b. Potatoes Kidneys, no demand ; derwents, if ripe, 45s to 50s, sacks extra, f.o.b.
