The sub-committee appointed to co-operate with the committee of ladies in getting up the cake and apron fair reported that everything was making very satisfactory progress and there was every prospect of the affair being a decided success. During the year the subscription had been reduced to 10a, and as a consequence the list of members had risen to 61, but Bome ten or twelve ef these would probably be lost for the present year. The income from subscriptions consequently remained about the same as before the reduction, which was not sufficient to carry on with during the year and some extra sources of revenue were absolutely necessary. ihe balance sheet showed the receipts for the year from all sources to have been £36 5s 4d and the expenditure, £3l 3s 3d, leaving a balance on hand of £5 2s Id, but against this there were outstanding liabilities ameunting to about £l2. GIFT AUCTION, ETC. The advisability or otherwise of holding the gift auction and fair in the park was discussed, and after due consideration it .was thought that the weather would probably be too unsettled and cold by the middle of April for the gathering to be held in the park. The volunteer hall could ba obtained at a moderate cost, and it was decided to hold it there, and thus to a certain extent be independent of the weather, Promises of gifts of produce, etc., were coming in well. It was decided that each person giving money or goods to the value of £1 should receive a ticket of membership for the year 1890, Mr Webster said he had receiyed an offer from two ladies to provide everything required for the Art Gallery.—The offer was accepted with thanks.
