PRICE OF BREAD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —In your issue of March 13th I notice a letter, signed by " Fairplay," complaining of the high price of bread charged by the master bakers of Temuka. I may say that the inhabitants of Geraldine are victims from the same cause, and I wish to 1 point out also that no distinction whatever is made between the customer who pays cash 6d per 41b loaf from the daily round of "book customers." I certainly agree with " Fairplay" in his remarks about agitation, for if the public are apathetic in the matter the bakers will never yield after once raising the price. If the laws of trade do not govern the bakers, and they consider union is strength for them, so it is for the public. Lite and Let Lite.
