STRANGE TALE OF THE SEA.

A private letter reeieved at Brisba 1 states that James Fay, ofNormaatoii recently went out about a W ile from the shore to fish in one the boats of the steamer Dugong. Ths weather was calm until the evenu "'S' when the wind rose. Fay attempted to pull ashore, but the breeze increased to a gale. After desperate efforts Fav was almost in touch with the land, when a fierce squall caught his boat’ and despite his greatest exertions carried it out to sea again. Nothing daunted, he continued rowing, and once more was in close proximity to the shore, when he was again swept away. Thoroughly exhausted and in despair, he now gave up his efforts. The wind and sea were tremendous, but the boat road the billows bravely and shipped but little water, and this Fay baled out. For two days the boat was the sport of the waves, and then struck on an island, capsizing. Fay managed to reach the shore, though in an exhausted condition. He found that the island was over-run with wild goats, one of which he caught, and with a rusty nail he bled its neck drinking the blood that flowed from the wound. Sleeping after this draught, ho awoke refreshed. Undaunted, he proceeded to explore the island, which though a fairly large one, is not namec. A few days afterwards a fisherman’s boat passed by, and seeing signals of distress on the island put in and took Pay on hoard. By this time he was reduced to a verv low state, but proper nourishment, carefully supplied, revived him. He had been six days and five nights without food or water.
