CHRISTOHTJRCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington Tarda on Wednesday the attendance was large, but the effect of the dry weather was noticeable on all classes of stock. Eat Cattle—Another falling off in the supply was noticeable. This caused a slightly better demand, and an all round advance of from Is to Is 6d per 1001 b may be quoted. Best beef made from 16s to 19s per 1001 b, and second rate from 13s to 15s 6d.
Store Cattle—Hardly any business done, prices being very low, owing to scarcity of feed.
Fat Sheep—The quality generally was anything but the best. Jhe sale started well and bidding was brisk, prices consequently remaining firm. In consequence of the largeness of the entry, however, the demand fell away toward the close of the sale, and a drop had to be accepted. Best mutton may be quoted at 2d to 2£d, and inferior from l|d to 2d. For the Orari Estate were sold 51 crossbred wethers at 128, 19 crossbred ewes at 10s.
Pigs—A large entry with a shade better demand. Baconers sold up to late rates, but porkers, which were extremely numerous, were not in demand. For Mr W. Postlethwaite were sold 28 porkers at from 26s to 345, and 12 weaners from 7s 6d to 10s.
