FIRE BRIGADES’ CONFERENCE.

The eleventh annual Conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association commenced at Wellington on Monday Thirty-two ■ delegates were present. •Thb report of the Executive Committee stated that during 2 last year seven new brigades joined the association. • Hose and Hydrant, firemen—Gisborne, 46sec, 1; Wanganui, 52sec, and Wellington, 52 sec, 2. Timaru finished fifth in 63secs,

Ladder Race, one man —Fireman Harrison, Marton, 1; Foreman Broomdale, Hastings, 2. There were thirtynine competitors.
