Alleged Manslaughter.—An inquest touching the death of Mrs Christina Adam, at the Taieri, concluded at Dunedin on Tuesday, Dr W, J. Cotlam, after detailing the results of the post mortem, said that the cause of death was puorpural eclampsia. If premature labor wore in duced that gave the woman less chance of
recovery, and he thought that any attempt to bring about premature birth was improper, and a gross error of judgment. He was of opinion that if assistance had been at hand there would have been a chance of saving the child’s life. Replying to a question whether the treatment
of Peters, whp atiyndpd Mrs Adam, caused her death, Dr Ocltam said it took away any chance of her recovery. Stewart L. Peters, in his evidence, said that he was
a perpetual student of the Glasgow University, and had passed the second profes-
sional examination. He described his treatment of the patient, and emphatically denied that be bad done anything to induce premature labor. After ten minutes’ retirement the jury returned, and the foreman announced that four out of the six agreed to a verdict of manslaughter
against Peters. The coroner accepted the verdict, and accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed in £2OO and two
sureties of £IQQ. The inquiry lasted hours. The" case will be heard at the Supreme Court next week. The noted quality of the Coffee made in the Cafes of Turkey, Prance, and America is chiefly due to the fact that only Fresh Boasted Coffee is used ; so that none pf the volatile oil and other essentials are lost. Ask your grocer for Anderson’s Coffee, and you will have a beverage alike refreshing and
stimulating, as it is fresh roasted and ground at the factory, Timaru.—[Advt, 2J
