AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. TIMAKTJ. Mr E. K. Guinness (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ending February 22nd ; Washdyke Yards—Business at these yards and other fixtures have been on a very limited scale. There is a steady sale for prime quality fit for export, 2 and 4-tooth half and three-quarter-breds, and young merinos. We have several enquiries for the above descrip. Uon of sheep, and could place a large number. Cattle—The prices and demand show no improvement, and we have no sales of any note to record. Sheep—Little or no business has been done at the different yards, owing to the causes above stated. At Washdyke, on the 20th inst., we sold a line of 4-tooth half-bred wethers good stores, at 10s 9d. ' Private Sales of Sheep—Tn transactions of Ibis nature the market has displayed animation. We have placed since our last report 4905 of various

sorts. Sheepskins—Our total sales, made up of factory, butchers' and country lots, amount to 2254, which we have placed at the following figures: Factory Re ]ts 2a 6d, 2s 9d, to 3s, lambs' skins 2s lOd, 3s, 3s 3d, to 3s 6d, butcher*' erossbreds 2s, 2s 3d, 2s 6d', 2s 9d, to 2s 10d, according to size and

condition, country woolly skius at QU | to 7£d per lb. I Hides—The market is somewhat weaker, and prices have a downward

the week ending 22nd Febiuary 1890 : J ' Hides—The weekly supplies are moved off at hue prices, viz., for good heavy, 601 b and over, 3kl; 511 bto 591 b 2id; light, 501 b and under, 2d:

sound calfskins, 3|d per lb. ' Tallow and Fat "display a somewhat easier feeling, in sympathy with Home advices. Best clean rough fat still makes lfd and Ifd per lb, inferior and badly saved £d to l£d per lb. Tallow 12s 6d to 17s per cwt.

Sheepskins—At the weekly auctions dried skins were in full supply and

met with good competition, while the usual assortment of good Dells and lambskins brought satisfactory prices. Butchers' pelts, crossbreds, from 2s to

3s lOd ; do merino, Is 9d to 3s ; lambskins, 2s 3d to 4m 2d; full woolled skins up to 8s ; factory skins, in large
