Thomas Spring, aged 18, was drowned while bathing in tho Manawatu river on Tuesday night. Serious bash fires have broken out in the Waikato, A great fire is raging at Mangawhare, and the valuable flax fields belonging to Dilwertft are in danger at Ohapu. Kusah's valuable bush waß destroyed. It is judged that the bush near Ohapu is burning lin many different places. The houses lot some residents are ia danger.
