MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The month'y ra -eting of tiie board was held in the road board cffico, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 17ih inst. The members present were the Hon. J. B. A. Acland (chairman), Messrs R. Tliew and G. J. Dennistoun. The following correspondence was read and dealt with : From the Manager for the Cslooial Real Property Company, in reference to the Company’s refusal to transfer the land required for a road through the Sherwood Downs property, and stating that he would visit the locality shortly and would further advise the board.

From the Commissioner of Property Tax, intimating that he had forwarded to the Treasury a voucher for the payment of £9B 8s 3d, amount of subsidy due to the board oh rates collected for the year ending Slat March, 1889. From the Secretary Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, acknowledging receipt of £73 9s 2d, being second instalment of the board’s contribution for the year ending Slat March, 1890.

From the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch, returning the plans of roads proposed to be dealt with under the Public Works Act duly certified.—The clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps for having the proposed alterations carried into effect. From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, consenting to the closure of the road at Belhune’s cutting upon condition that the closed road reyert to the Crown free of cost.

From Mr A. Bain, forwarding cheque in payment for grass in the plantation at Sherwood Downs.

From Mr C. G. Tripp, in reference to the protective works in the creek near his house, requesting the return of seyen casks of cement used by him in repairing the works, and requesting that the resolution passed by the board in May last stopping any further expenditure upon the said works be rescinded.—Resolved—“That the cement be returned, and that Mr Tripp bo asked to meet some ef the members of the board on the spot to inspect the creek and consider what is the best course to be followed.”

After passing accounts to the amount of £142 19i 9d the board adjourned.
