THE LABOR REVOLT.
London, Jan. IS. The lock-out of men from tea warehouses has been settled. A compromise was arranged. The London Trades Unions advise pecuniary help should be afforded to gas strikers. They also condemn the Government for supporting the company with the aid of police. Cardinal Manning wrote to Burns iu November protesting against the surplus of the strike fund being expended in indiscriminate charity. He advised that the money should be handed to a benefit society for the permanent advantage of the dockers. Burns states that tbe Melbourne remittance bad been invested by five members of the union for the relief of distress, Brussels, Jan. 13. The mine owners have conceded the demands of the Charleroi miners. Adelaide, Jan. 14. Another shipping difficulty is imminent. The wharf laborers at Port Adelaide are demanding an increase of wages, but the stevedores and shipowners refuse lo entertain their demands.
