RIFLE ASSOCIATION'S MEETING.
As announced in our last issue the N.Z. Rifle Association’s annual meeting commenced on Monday last with the Wellington match, which was concluded on Tuesday night. The following are the results up to that time :
Wellington Match, 200, 500, and 600 yards. Ten shots each distance (aot. counting for bell). Major Acheson, Riverton, £lO ... 92 Private Mitche'l, Victoria, £8 ... 92 Mr Sloan, Yarrawonga, £6 90 Major Burns, Dunedin, £5 89 Gunr. Mitchell, Port Ch.fi. Art., £5... 87 Gunner Bunting, Napier Art., £5 ... 87 Pv‘. Armstrong, N. Dunedin R., £5.. 86 Foi f y-three others took prizes varying from £4 to £l, their scores ranging from 86 to 77.
Hawke’s Bay Match, 500 and 600 yards ; ten shots ; counting for the Belt. The following are the highest scorers : Gun. Gardiner, Dunedin Artillery, £lO 85 Engr. Lloyd, Dunedin Engineers, £B.. 85 Sergl, Gray, Canterbury Scottish, £6 84 Priyate Jenkins, Arrow Rifles, £5 ... 84 Private Mitchell, Victoria, £5 ... 83 Sergt. Kay, Oamaru R'fles, £5 ... 83 Trooper Peake, A’exandra Cavalry, £5 83 Twenty-four ethers took prizes of from £4 to £l, their scores ranging from 82 to 77. Maklbokough Match, 500 and 600 yards, leu shots at each range (counting for bell). 500 Yards. Captain Hanby, V;c oria 50 Major Purnell, Wanganui ... 48 Pvt. McCarthy, Vic oria R., Auckland 48 Corpora! Scott, Christchurch Rifles... 47 Caj,t. Widmoti, Queenstown Artillery 47 Private Mitchetl, Victoiia 46 Private ttarding, Blenheim Rifles ... 46 In this match five others had each made 45, and several others were to fire. In this Captain Hanby made the highest possible at 500 yards, hitting the bull’s eye ten times.
