GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday evening last. - Present—Messrs A. White (in the chair), J. Williams, N. Dunlop, R. Taylor, and A. Sherratt. COEEESPONDENCE. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. Inward was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr J. Cunningham, asking for his name to be removed from the rate-roll for sections lately occupied by him. From Mr W. Fly, asking the Board to take steps to prevent the race and flood water going on to his son’s land. —The overseer stated that the overflow was caused by the culvert getting stopped up occasionally by floating debris, and he was instructed to report on the application at the next meeting. A telegram was received from the Gore Borough Council, stating that the fire engine and appliances had been forwarded on Monday last. ENGINE SHED. The Works Committee were authorised to pass the building and draw a cheque for the payment of the contractor when the shed was finished the chairman to make arrangements’ for the overdraft required. It was also decided to call tenders at once for painting the building. The Works Committee were instructed to consider the advisability of flooring the shed. oteeseee’s eepoet. The overseer’s report was read. It was decided to bring the water down the west side of the street, the work to be gone on Swith at,once, and •two extra men to be employed, W KATES. The clerk reported that the whole of the previous year’s rates had been received with the exception of £1 11s, most of which was in very small sums. —Mr S. Tayler being the only defaulter to any amount it was decided to take action against him immediately for the recovery of the same. LEASES. It was decided to take over from Messrs E. O’Brien and J. Fifield the sections leased by them from the Board, and re-let the same. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £27 12s 6d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
