A woman of about 40 years of age named Eliza Goss was reported by a neighbor to be lying in an unconscious state in her house, Oollingwood street, Nelson, on Eriday morning. _ The police called in medical assistance and arrested the woman’s husband, Henry John Gosa, who was remanded on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The same night the woman, who never regained consciousness, died. The couple frequently quarrelled, and it is said that they were keeping up merriment till a late hour on Eriday morning. The annual meeting of the Orange Grand Lodge at Dunedin elected officers for the current year as follows: —Grand Master, Eev. Ellis; Deputy, Mr Ei H.
