Impboved Machine. —Mr F. Colville con tinues to improve his winnowing machine, and has now brought it to what he oonsiders perfection. In the pla;)o of two ecceu tries as heretofore he has arranged so as to drive off the fan shaft, and the elevator has been placed at the Bide, making the machine very compacL. Fibe in Sydney.—A fire in Sydney on Christmas morning destroyed the Union S.S. Company's new store capable, of holding 30,000 tonß of cargo, advising the wharves. At one time »he steamer Waihora was m danger. Twelve hundred tons of Jew Zealand produoe were destroyed. The damage was estimutad at £30,000.

Biwdeb TniAL.—The trial of the All-Steel Deering, h<-ld in Mr W. Fitzgerald's paddock last Tuesday, was a great success. Tnero was a fair attendance, and the work dono gave great satisfaction. There was a vory clean stubble, and the tying was tight and well done, and there was not the slightest hitch from beginning to end.
