MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 20th inst. Present—Hon. J. B. A. A eland (chairman), Messrs B. Mackay, R. Thew, and J. G. Dennistoun. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and dealt with : From the Property Tax Commissioner, requesting that certain alterations be made on the valuation roll, in respect to Government leasehold in the occupation of Messrs Smith and Dennistoun.—The clerk was instructed to make the required alteration. From the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch, informing the Board that the bridle tracks formed through Crown lands had been reserved as public roads.
From the Receiver of Land Revenue, Christchurch, stating that there is no money derived from sections in the Arundel Tillage Settlement at credit of the Board in the Local Bodies deposit account, and that Local Bodies are not entitled to receive onethird of rent derived from lands let under the village homestead settlement condition.
From Mr J. T. Smith, surveyor, forwarding plan of Mr Shaw’s survey of deviation of road in section 27450, Raincliff.—The clerk stated that he had forwarded it along with other plans to the Survey office, Christchurch, for the approval of the chief surveyor. From the Geraldine County Council, requesting the payment of the board s contribution to the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, for the year ending March 31st, 1890. —The amount was passed for payment.
From tbe Chief Surveyor, stating that the road line through section 27832 is still shown on the maps as a public road. Prom Mr Alex. Bain, requesting the board’s permission to cut the grass in the plantation reserve at Sherwood Downs, —Permission was granted upon payment of a stated sum. Prom Mr T. McG-illicuddy, offering a price for the cocksfoot seed growing in the plantations near Peel Forest. — The offer was accepted. From the Property Tax Commis* sioner, forwarding a form of declaration, to be signed by the chairman, as to the amount of rates collected by the Board for tbe year ending 81st March, 1889.—The declaration was duly signed, and ordered to be returned to the Property Tax office. CLOSED EOAD. A formal resolution was passed, declaring the road to be closed from the south-eastern corner of section 20225, running through part of reserve 2195 to the south-western boundary of section 30203, all the conditions of the Public Works Act having been complied with. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £247 Is 8d were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned.
