Mr Bell, the Crown Prosecutor Wellington, who prosecuted in a recent charge against the young man Hill, accused of distributing indecent literature, has lodged an appeal against the decision of Messrs Henton and E S, Hawkins, the justices who dismissed the information on technical grounds. The Hear Meat Company, Wellington, has declared a dividend of 10 per cent. The balance sheet shows a credit of £9320, of which £4720 is carried forward. During the last 12 years the population of the city of Wellington increased from 15,000 to 29,000, and and the rateable value from £160,000 to £308,000. The entire revenue during the twelve years has been £500,000, and the amount spent on street construction was £80,000; en waterworks £210,000, and on reclamation £66,000.
