At a special meeting of the Trades and Labor Council, a resolution that a Tailors’ Union be formed in Auckland was agreed to. A committee was appointed from among the tailors present to arrange matters in connection with the movement. During the discussion it was stated that in Auckland lower rates of wages were earned than in any other part of New Zealand or the Australian colonies.
