A young man named John Polseu, employed as a lumper, was drowned in the harbor at Auckland on Friday by the capsizing of an open boat. Elliott, was burned on Friday morning. The building was insured for £SOO in the Northern Insurance Office, and the furniture is said to be covered by a policy in the Sun Office. Captain Russell paid a visit to the Lincoln School of Agriculture on Thursday, and expressed himself as highly pleased with what he saw, Mr Dillon has addressed a meeting on Home Rule at Invercargill and it is expected that £2OO will be raised for the Evicted Tenants Fund.
