At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the yards presented a greatly improved appearance to-day, all classes of stock being in good force. The weather was fine and the attendance good, a brisk sale being the result. Fat Cattle— Ihe enquiry for all classes of beasts was weak, and a decline of from Is to 2s per 1001 b was noticeable. Best beef went from 17s 6d to 18s 6d per 1001 b, and infeorior at greatly reduced rates. Matson and Co. sold for Mr Euddenklau 1 cow at £4 7s 6d, and Milea and Co. sold for Mr Grant 3 steers at £6 10s to £7.

Fat Sheep—There was brisk competition, and an advance of Is a head may be quoted on all classes of sheep. Best mutton made 2*d per lb, and inferior lid to 2d, Matson and Co sold for Mr J. G. Ruddenklau crossbred ewes at 8s lOd to 11s, and for the Levels estate ditto at 10s 7d to 11s 3d. A magnificent line of two and four-tooth halfbred wethers brought from 14s 6d to 16s 6d. Fat Lambs —Best lambs made from 9s 6d to 12s lid, and inferior sorts from 7s 6d upwards. Pigs—A small entry and good demand. All sorts sold well, baconers especially.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—The market for this cereal still lacks animation. The supply on hand is considerably in excess of local requirements, and in the absence of an export demand the sales effected are limited, being confined to small parcels occasionally required for mixing purposes. Quotations are as follow: — Prime tuscan, 3s to 3s 3d; best red straw and velvet, 2s lOd to 3s; medium (nominal), 2s 7d to 2s 9d; inferior to best fowls’ wheat, 2s to 2s 7d (ex store). Oats—The business transacted during the past week has been on a limited scale. At the moment the prospect for any immediate improvement seems somewhat doubtful. Quotations: Best short bright sorts, ] s 8d to Is Bid; medium to good, Is 6d to Is 7£d ; inferior and musty, Is 2d to Is 5d (sacks extra, ex store). Barley —Extra good samples of malting are still saleable. Milling has no inquiry, and the price of oats being so low feed is hardly ever asked for. Quotations: Prime malting, 3 s Id to 3s 3d; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 9d; feed and milling, 2s to 2s 6d (sacks extra, ex store). Potatoes —Oamaru, 30s to 40s; new Auckland kidneys, £lO. Pigs— to Id; bams, 9d; flitches and rolls, 6d to 6|d. Chaff—£2 10s to £3 ss. Straw, oaten and wheaten, 355. Butter—New season’s, salt, 6d; fresh, glutted. Cheese, new Akaroa, 4|d ; old, 8d to 3|d; factory, 4d to 4id. Eggs—Plentiful. Honey, 4id. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 2a 6d to 4s; cocksfoot, 2£d to 3|d. Sheepskins—On Tuesday butchers’ best green crossbreds, woolled, brought 6s 8d to 6s; good to medium and inferior, 5s lid to 5s ; green merinos, woolled, 5s lid to 4s 6d ; green lambskins, Is lOd to Is; do pelts, Is 6d to Is; country dry skins, crossbreds, inferior to medium, Is 2d to 3s 9d; do do merino, Is Id to 3s lOd; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 3s lOd to 8s 8d; do do, merino, 3s lid to 6s sd; dry pelts, 4d to lOd, Hides—Quotations: Heavyweights, to 2f d ; picked, a shade more; medium, 2£d to 3|d; light, 2d to 2id; inferior, to lid per lb. Tallow—Eor prime rendered mutton, 19s to £1; medium to good, 16s to 18s; inferior and mixed, 13s to 15s. Rough fat—Best mutton, 13s to 14s; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12s 6d per cwt.

DUNEDIN STOCK MARKET. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—2o3 head yarded. The demand was again dull, and prices showed a further decline of from 15s to 20s per head compared with last week’s rates. The quality was good, and included several pens of heavyweight bullocks, which realised up to 810 2s 6d ; medium, up to £8; and light weights to £6. Keid, Maclean and Co sold for Mr W. Stewart, Orari, 4 bullocks at £6 17s 6d. Fat Sheep—2l46 penned, of which 100 were merinos, the balance principally shorn crossbreds, there being only a few pens of woolly sheep. Prices showed an advance of from Is to Is 6d per head on last week’s rates. Crossbred wethers in wool sold up to 19s 6d; do ©wes, to 15s; crossbred wethers (shorn), to 14s 9d ; do ewes, to 15s; merino wethers (shorn) to 12s. : Fat Lambs—77l penned Prices showed no improvement; best quality sold up to 8s 6d, medium to Bs. Pigs—Only 38 yarded. Prices improved slightly. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Dec. 11, Wheat, chick feed 2s 3d, with a plentiful supply; New Zealand milling 3s, the market is dull. Oats, best feed Is 9d to 2s 3d. Maize, New Zealand 3s, Cape 2s 6d to 2s Bd, nominal. Bran and pollard quiet at 7-jd. Blur Prussian peas 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Oatmeal is very quiet at £ll to £l2. Old

potatoes are unsaleable j new crop plentiful at £8 to £3 10s. The onion market is glutted at £6 to £7. Butter, dairy made, to 6d ; separator made 6d to 7d; local factory made 7dto Bd. Cheese, best local made, ®d to 6d ; New Zealand made 6d to 6|d. Bacon, local cured 6d to 7d, New Zealand cured 9d; hams, New Zealand cured lid to Is, with market quiet. Melboubne, Dec. 11. Wheat is weak at 8s Bd. Flour, stone made £lO, roller made £lO 5s and upwards. Oats, prime New Zealand milling 3s 4d. Maize 3s 7d. Barley, feeding 3s Id. Bran B|d. Sugar, Queensland greys £23 10s. Adelaide, Dec. 11. Wheat, shipping parcels, 3s 6d. Flour, stone made, £9 ; roller made, £lO, Oats, New Zealand, 3s 6d. Barley, Cape, 2s 9d ; malting, 4s 6d. Bran, 6d to 6|d ; pollard, 7d. Sugar, Mauritius grevs and medium whites, £24 10s.

ENGLISH MARKETS,

London, Dec. 11

The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,906,000 quarters, for the Continent 388,000. The American visible supply is recorded at 3,375,000 bushels.

I'he decline in wool ranges from id to Id. The present series of sales closes on Thursday. Nine thousand quarters of Australian wheat, December shipments, have beerf sold at 35s and 11,000 more at 84s lO^d. At the wool sales prices were unchanged.

Wool options have fallen twenty centimes per kilogramme since the beginning of the month.

WOOL SALES. The National Morgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, and Messrs; Mundell; and Co., report having held their first sale of the season at the Assembly Rooms, Timaru, oa Tuesday last, when they submitted a catalogue of 318 bales wool and skins. With the exception of a few lots the whole was disposed of. The prices realised were very satisfactory, one lot of 12 bales very superior halfbred reaching Is l|d, the top price for the day. At the Auckland wool sales held on Wednesday the'prices obtained showed a rise of per lb on last sales quotations, or a clear advance of per lb on last season’s prices. Dunedin, Dec. 12, The joint wool sales were opened today. A good demand was experienced, but the adverse reports from Home had considerable influence, and growers may probably be dissatisfied. There was a good demand for fine combing greasy, the top price for crossbred showing to 2d advance on last year. Merino participated in the rise. Coarse descriptions were in less demand, but showed a rise of fd to Id. Mr Stronach’s prices were—(all medium wool, none first class) Merino greasy, 8d to lid; greasy half-bred to l2Jd ; do crossbred, Bid to Hid; pieces, to 8d; slipe, half-bred, 12|d to 13id; do, crossbred, lOfd'to llfd.
