Maior Slingsby Ball, a well-known resident of Napier, has been obliged to file his schedule. His unsecured liabilities are £3950 ; secured, £29,747, The statement; of assets shows a surplus of £12,397. Barlett, a baker, was drowned on Monday while bathing in the Ngaruroro river, Hawkes Bay. A brother-in-law was present, but was unable to save him. Mrs Bartlett and a girl were bathing below, and wore horrified to nee the dead body floating down to them. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned.
