OHRISTOHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, Nor. 22nd, 1889 : considerably impeded for lack of space in ho:neward-bound ships, wheat having to give place to room bespoken fur wool, the expert of whieh i« now in fallowing. Owing to wheat holders keeping for tetter priees, " that have been unattainable," there is a considerable surplus waiting shipment, and as no other available oatlet is in view they are anxious to quit their present stocks even at reduced rates. The London market is slightly lm- j proving, while Continental and American continues firm. Oats are dull, no lines of consequence having changed hands. Barley it without alteration. Beans and Peas could be placed if of prime quality, Grass beed: The market for the present season is over, and only prime lines are bought for holding for next season. Dairy Produce, until cool-chamber space can be obtained, is not likely (to command more than the current rates rvleing fer the last two months, The week's quotations are as follow: Wheat—Tuscan, 3s 3d to 8s 4d; pearl, 2i lid to 3s; hunters, 2s 9d to 2s lOd; chick wheat, while, 2s 6d; inferior, 2s to 2s 3d. Oats—Milling, 2« 4d; short stout feed, 2s Id to 2s 2d; others, Is Id to 2s. Barley—Malting, 3s 6d; feed, 2s to 2s 3d. Grass Seed— Ryegrass: Machinedressed, 4s 6d; farmers', 3s to 3s 6d. Dairy Produce—Butter, 6d to 6d. Cheese, 3|d to 4d: Potatoes—This line is new about doie with, no enquiry even at the low rate of 40s at country stationn, being met with.
