MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly mnetiog of the Board wan held in the Road Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, 15tli inst. Present—Hon. J. B. A. Acland (chairman), and MeHsrs iR. Thew, G. J. Denniatoun, and R. Mackay; • The nowly-elected member, Mr C. G. Tripp, also took his s&nt. The Board expressed their satisfaction at aajan seeing Mr Tripp occupying hie old plueo on the Board. SENDEES. Tenders for the following works were opened : Contract No.'l7 —Repairing; Jefcoate's road--Johd'Lo , gae, £4O ;C. Pye, £34 10s; William Sou'.ly, £3O ; W. J. Ennis and Co., £3O; Rohert Rae, £29 10s; Timothy Sugrue, £29 (accepted). Contract No.' 18—Forming Hitch's roadi —C. Pye, £146; David Sheeban, £127 16a 66* \ John Sugrue, £95 ; Patrick Barke, £BB (accepted). cobrbspondence; The following correspondence was read and considered :- From Mr J. T. Smith, forwardibg plans of roads at north 'end of Peel Forest and Bethune's cutting," proposed to be stopped. From the same; in reference to extra work done in swrveying roads at Peel Forest, and requesting the Board to moke allowance for such work. —Jt was resolved that in consideration .of work being doD9 ia excess of that described in his memo, of May 7th, the Bamo be paid for. From Messrs Smithson and Raymond, returning the plans ot road proposed to be closed threugh Reserve 2195 for public inspection: oveeseee's REPOET. The overseer's report was read, and the following resolutions passed thereon: (1) That in reference to tbe application of the residents in the Arundpl Village Settlement to have the roads formed leading past their respective holdings, the straight roid leading through the settlement to the bridge road be. improved. (2) That the Clayton bridle track be cleaned out and improved. RATE. Proposed by Mr Tripp, seconded by Mr Thew, and carried—" That no Road Board rate be struck this year, owing to the Geraldine CouDty Council and the Timaru Harbor Board having struck a rate." accownts. Aftarpasßing accounts to the amount of £72 13s 6d, the Board adjourned.
