REVOLUTION AT RIO DE JANEIRO.
Rio Janeiro, Nov. 17. A revolution has broken out here, and the Emperor Dom Pedro has been deposed; The Presidency of the Government has been assumed by Field Marshal De Fonesca, who has guaranteed the 1 safety of the Imperial family. An attempt was made to assassinate Senator L. A, Fieira da Silva, Minister of Marine. The movement is being supported by the army. Don Fonesca, who has assumed tbe 1 Presidency of the Government, has 1 issued a manifesto abolishing Monarohial Government and declaring that in taking this step he is assured of the support 1 of tn'e various provinces. The population is quiet, being in favor of the now Government, of which a list of Ministers has bean published. The deposed Emperor, Dom Pedro, with his family has sailed tor Europe. Thei members ot the Cabinet have declared their willingness to resign in order to make room for the leaders of the Liberals and TTnionists in the Government. The Brazilian revolution is the outcome of the bigotry of Princess Isabelle, Crown Princesß, and her husband, Prince Louis of Orleans. The new ! Government under De Fonesca has 1 been accepted by all the Brazilian provinces excepting. Bahia. Notwithstanding hit deposition the Emperor Dom Pedro retains bis place on che civil list. Nov. 18. All the Brazilian contracts have been guaranteed by the new Government. The leaders of the revolt were General Fonesca, ;who was disgraced some two years.ago.,for inoiting.to riot, and a malcontent French journalist. , During, the disturbance the Imperial ! family were imprisoned in the metropolis, I and they, remained there until they, left for Europe. Brazilian stock's fell only 2 per cent. in London, ''
