CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.
The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, Nov. 15th, 1889 : The week's business has been unimpertant as regards large transactions, although space has been taken up in homeward bound ships, which has bad the effect of lowering stocks considerably in wheat, freight for which is not eo easily adjusted en account of space being required for wool, the forward season for this Hoe being rather to the disadvantage of late shipment?. Values remain for this cereal about the same as our last, quotations. In oats our advices do not warrant us in giving increased values,
although wo have no signs before ub of any weakness in this commodity. Barley continues without alteration, few lines of prime malting beiog under offer arid maltsters not anxious to trade. Besns and pea«
except for seed purposes are not enquired for. Potatoes hare to our regret come to tho end of the season in a very decisive and unmiscakeable manner, no chance of a
revival being anticipated by the most sanguine. We have pleasure in stating from adfices from all parts of the province that crops are well forward, and given a few genial showers should be unexceptionally good. Dairy producs is without any considerable alteration,
factory-made butter being most in request, and cheese from noted makers commanding prices which seem to be less than the qnality turned out deserves. Our quotations are as follow : Wheat—Tuscan, 3s id j hunters, 2s lOd to 28 lid ; pearl, 3s to 3s Id ; chick wheat, whole, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; broker, 2s Id
