'• The I Churoh required to be aggressive to be in touch with the times on the great questions ' commanding the attention of men. Care for the young must form a speoial part of the ■ Christian ministor's duty, and he thought the people required to be ia full sympathy, with the pastor, and to give proof of that sympathy by a liberal support of those who devoted their lives to the work of the ministry. He had no doubt of the success of the Church if all, ministers and people, were fully alive to their great responsibilities. The circuit subscriptions towards the Home Mission amounted to £539, ef whieh the Durham Street Church contributed £l5O, and Ti-aara £45 10i, including a donation from Mr J. Ballantyno of £3O. Temuka contributed £5 Bs, aod Waimate £5 ss. The expenditure was £9O 12s. The circuit contributions to Foreign Missions amounted to £176 8s sd. Of this Temuka contributed £2 Os 6d, Waimate £lB 14s 7d, and Timaru £7 5s 3d.. It was decided to recommend—" That the Conference be requested to appoint a Euro- ' pean missionary, accompanied by. a Maori;
minister, to visit the Crnterbury district during the ooming year, for the purpose of advocating the claims of the home mission and church extension fund." A vota in favor ef the N.Z. Conference being constituted separate and independent was carried by 18 to 9. J
