NEWS FROM STANLEY.
London, Nov. 5. A despatch has been received from Stanley via Zanzibar. He says that on reaching Lake Albert Nyanz* for the third time (after his visit to his rear guard) he heard that Emin Paßha and Jephson had been prisoners since August 10th, and unless they received assistance before the end of December, any help would be useless, It appears that the troops of the Equatorial province revolted, and that the Mahdists shortly afterwards invaded the district. After the first battle the natives were seized with panic and joined the invaders, who, suffering a reverse in the attack on Dufela, had. sent to Khartoum for assistance. No explanation is given in the letter as to how Emin was rescued, Stanley merely says that he stayed at Wadelai for a month collecting the fugitives and left Albert Nyanza on May Bth homeward bound via Victoria Nyanza. No hostile natives had been met since leaving Kabbareja, He expects to reach the coast in January.
