THE STRIKE AT THE KAIAPOI WOOLLEN FACTORY.
; 1 ‘ Chbistchuboh;' Nov. 5. \ At a meeting of the Tailors’ and Tailoresaes’ Union to-night numerous offers were received from outside Canterbury towards supporting those on strike from the Kaiapoi factory, The delegates reported on the business done at the meeting of the Trades’ and Labor Union, when it was decided that they should associate with th Union as recommended. Those out on strike decided to stick together till their demands were conceded, and were patiently waiting the remainder coming out on Thursday evening. Sympathy was expressed by the members ol the Bootmakers’ Union present, and several letters and telegrams were read promising support. Dunedin, Nov. 6. i ! The Dunedin Operative Union 1 have voted £3O to assist those on strike in the Kaiapoi factory,
and will consider the question of further assistance. The i ailoresses’ Union have decided to give £2O toward the salute object; also to make a weekly levy of 10 per cent, on the w’ages; of all workers in the Union, to be continued till the strike jis settled. , ' ,
