At* a meeting ot the Exhibition Commissioners itiwaa decided to give four prizes for a band contest on March,!l4th aod ! 15th, a* follows: First prize, £100; second prize, £45; third prize, £3O ; fourth prize, £2O, Mr Alfred Olive iSproul, J.P., of Taupo, died suddenly on Friday afterneon at the residence of Mr Spenser, Ponsonby. v Mr John M. Harvey has disappeared mysteriously. He was dispatched by the Auckland Executive Committee to assist Mr J. L. Holland at the N,ew Zealand Exhibition and has not been seen since the 11th. It is feared he fell overboard. The Government Auditor has declined to pass the amount voted the Wellington City Council m aid of a town clock. As the Auditor said nothing about a similar vote made by the Harbor Board, the Council decided to let the Auditor take legal proceedings if he chooses.
