■ Tba feeble tremble before opinion, the foolish defy it, the wise judge it, the ikilfßl direct it. m At the inquest on the oody ot the child Kobertson, who was run over by a Chinaman's dray on Thursday at Christchurch, the evidence showed that the driver had not seen the child, and that when called upop to atop he thought they were teasing him as usual. Hence he drove on. A verdict of " accidental death " was returned. A rider was added to the effect that the Chinaman did wrong in not stopping when called on. The Coroner, Mr Beetham, told him that he had acted like a coward, that he was a bad man, and that everbody was ashamed of him.
