TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka School Committee was held on Tuesday evening last. Present—Messrs K. P. Grray (chairman), J. Blyth, W. Storey, E.- Brown, arid J. Cooper. COEBESPONDEBTCE. Correspondence was read from the Board of Education, stating that the application of the committee to retain the services of Miss E. Groodey, on full pay could not be entertained, the average attendance being too low. The chairman said he and the head master had interviewed the Secrets ry of the Board of Education, and laid the matter fully before him, but he said the regulations must be adhered to. HEAD MASTER'S BEPOBT. The head master's report was read as follows : Srtt,—l have the honor to submit the following report for the month of September : Boys. Girls. Total. Average weekly roll 190.4 168.6 359 Averaee attendance 138.8 126.8 265.6 Highest attendance 152 147 299 I am glad to be able to say that since the Ist of October our attendance has increased considerably. It has reached 300 no less than five times; still I am constrained to think our average should be even higher than it is in proportion to the population. As usual, the secondary pupils have continued to drop off during the year: only nine entered upon the current quarter. I have, etc., "W. Bbyabb. ENTBETAINMENT. Some discussion took place as to the indebtedness' of the committee, and the chairman and Mr Brown were appointed an entertainment committee to act with the secretary.
