The wrecked Koranui was sold for £25 on Saturday to the U.S.S. Company. The Bank of New Zealand yesterday foreclosed on the Auckland tramways, and placed an agent in charge. At the Invercargill Police Court yesterday, John Lewis was fined £l, and £1 6s costs for throwing stones on the roof of the Salvation Army meeting house at Rimu. A charge against the captain of the Invercargill branch of the Salvation Army, of obstructing traffic in the street, was, in the absence of a municipal by-law, dismissed. Murder and Suicide.— A shocking double crime was committed in Ampthill square, Hampstead road, London. A lady rat out of one of the houses in the square and was followed immediately by her husband who shot her with a pistol. Soon afterwards the man was apprehended by a constable* but after a struggle ha succeeded to pointing tne pistol at himself and fired. The husband and wife were promptly taken to a temperance hotel in the locality* where they both expired.
