GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of this comjaittee was held on Wednesday evening last. Present —Messrs "W. S. Maslin (chairman), J. Eiordan, J. W. Pye, C. E. Sherratt, H. K. Howard, "W. Shiers, and H. Walton. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ; " f:i chaiemah'u statement. . The chairman stated that since the previous meeting the fences had been considerably damaged by the gale, and he had had them repaired. He also stated that Mr H. Smith, second master, had resigned his position in the school, having received the appointment of master at the Paroa school, and had asked for a testimonial. The chairman's action with regard to the fence was approved of, and it was' decided to give Mr Smith a testimonial. •■!..". . NEW TBACEEB. Mr A. Bell was the only applicant for the vacant position, and it was decided to ask the Board of Education to appoint him.
1 MISCELLAITIOTJS. Letters vreve read from the head master and the board with regard to a pupil teacher. The head master also drew attention to the plastering at his residence needing repairs^—lt was decided that the visitors should attend to the same. Mr Q-. Kruse forwarded an account for ss, which 1 it was decided to pay, and ask the Oddfellows to refund half the amount. HEAP MASTER'S EEPOST.
The head master's report showed the average attendance for the quarter ending Sept. 21, 1889, to be 199.4, ind the average attendance for the iame period in 1888 to be 185. visitors. Messrs Fherratt and Maslin were ippointed visitors for the ensuing nonth. accounts. Some small accounts were passed or payment and the meeting terainated.
