AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. GERALDINE. Messrs J, Mundell and Co, report sales for the week ending Saturday, sih October, 1889, as follows; At the Geraldine market on "Wednesday. the numbers yarded for the day were 2893 sheep, 117 head of cattle, and 47 pigs. Our quotations for the sale are : Sheep Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes; 2 and 4 tooth, in forward condition, 12§; crossbred ewes, with lambs at foot, 10s 9d to 10s 6d; threequarter-bred hoggets, 10a 9d, 8s sd, to Bs. Cattle—-Three-year-old steers, light weights, £6 5s ; cows,, springing, £4, £3 10s, to £2 7s 6d; dry cows, £2 to £110s; two-year-old steers and heifers, £2 to £1 15s ; yearlings; £1 6a to £1; calyes, 12s to Bs. Pigs—Baconers, npne in the market; breeding sows, £1 17s 6d to £1 5s ; strong stores, 15s; slips, 11s to 9s; weaners, ss, 4s, to 3s 6d. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 3. The market for Queensland frozen mutton is sluggish. Beef, hindquarters, are queted at 4*d per lb ; forequarters, 3|d. New Zealand mutton, 4|d; lamb, sfd, Sydney muttonj 4£d; beef, forequarters,, 4d; hindquarters, 4Jd. ‘ One thousand bales of New Zealand hemp have been sold at prices ranging from £1 to £2 10s below last quotations. The tallow market is firm. Best mutton is quoted at 27s 6d to 28s; best beef, 26s 6d to 275. Ox hides, 3id to 3id per lb. October 4. New Zealand hemp, £29 5s to £29 10s. Bor the money market over a million pounds’ worth of gold is to arrive next week. The wool market is steady, and the Jiome trade has taken over half the number of bales available.
