AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
GERALDINE. Messrs «L Mundell and Co, report sales for the week ending Saturday, 21st September, 1889, as follows;At the Q-eraldina market on Wednesday, the totals yarded for the day were;—-4500 sheep, 69 head of cattle* and 59 pigs- Our sales were as follows
Sheep—Crossbred wethers, 4 and 6-todth ‘ j[fat) 14s 6d, thrCia-quarter-bred ewes (fat) 12a to Ha 4d, merino wethers (fat) 8s 10d* Crossbred stores 2 and 4-tooth, 8s 9d to ißs Id, crossbred hoggets 8s 9d, cull merinos 2s 7d. Cattle—Forward store steers £4 to £3, 2-year-old steers and heifers £1 10s to £1 7s 6d, yearling steers and heifers £l, calves 10«, dry cows £1 10s, cows springing £4 to £3 10s. ; Pigs—Strong stores 16s, 14s to lOs 3d, medium do 9s 9d, 8s 6d, to 7s Sd, suckers ss, 4s 8d to 4s. ENGLISH MARKETS. “ London, Sept. 23. Rabbit skins are firm, and prices have advanced l^d. , Money is. hardening owing to expectation of insufficient supplies. Three' months bills are quoted at 3f per cent, The English wheat markethas undergone a slight advance. The continental is unchanged and “Hfa American is steady. Tallow* medium mutton, :24s ;6d y beef, 245. ,1 > Stocks of rum are 50 per cent, below average. Sept, 24.
;■ Mr Licht, the sugar expert, etimates that the yield of European beet sugar, new crop, will be 485,000 tons in excess of last year’s. The total product last year was 207,000 tons' in excess of the previous year. Stocks in Europe and North America at the end of August were 15,700 tons below the amount at the same period of 1888. Wheat has advanced 6d per quarter.
