| . . , London, Sept. 20. ■ With the . balance ( £8000) of the .strike fund-it qsi proposed: to repay the advances made b/'ihh Trades Union ; the remainder to be devoted to the establishment of a new union in London. The total amount of donations to the istrike fund has amounted to £40,000, of which £24,000 came from Australia. Lord Brassey has been appointed to arbitrate between the lightermen and the ;masters, The former, it will be remembered, stood but for 6s a day. Sept, 21. Burns, the Socialist, who announces his intention of making a lecturing tour in Australia, has been offered ■a : free passage to the colony by the shipowners. An attempt is being made to form a Federated Union to control the interests of labor and control trade strikes.
