MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of tbe board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday last. Present —Hon. J. B. A. A eland (chairman), Messrs R. Mackay, Q-. J. Dehnistoun, E. Thew, and A. Hawdon. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. The chairman stated that he had signed the declaration in reference to taking the road required for road purposes through reserve 2195 while in Wellington, and had returned it to the clerk.—The clerk intimated that he had placed the plans and other documents with the hoard’s solicitors for the purpose of having the transaction completed. The chairman submitted to the hoard a deed of dedication from himself to the Queen, duly executed, transferring the land required for road diversion at the north end of Peel Forest.
The following correspondence was read and dealt with:— From the Chief Surveyor, forwarding the draughtsman’s account for plotting up the hoard’s map,—The account was passed for payment. From the Chief burveyor, returning the plans of roads proposed to be dealt with under the Public Works , Act for correction. —The clerk stated he had forwarded the plans to the surveyor for the necessary alteration.
i|From Mr H. Hamilton, consenting to the substitution of his name upon the rate roll for the property lately l in the occupation of Mr Alex. Brown at Clayton. From the Commissioner of Property Tax, requesting that sections 24536 and 38109 be rated to Mr J. Hitch and sections 22890 and 22891 to Mr D. McDonald. —The required alterations were made on the roll, and certified to by the chairman. From Mr A; J. Blakiston, requesting that the bridle tracks up the Orari be cleared out and improved.—The clerk to confer with Mr Blakiston as to when he would wish the work done.
Mr Mackay brought under the notice of the board the encroachment of the Raincliff Creek upon the Kakahu and Burke’s Pass road, and the necessity of at once attending to it to prevent accidents.—The overseer was directed to inspect the place, and have the necessary work done without delay. The overseer was instructed to lower the ford on Horsefall’s road near Scott’s corner. After passing accounts to the amount of £lO5 2s, the board adjourned.
