He remarked that the storm of last week had interfered considerably with the attendance, The fact that one of the chimneys had fallen through the roof and had damaged the floor and made it impossible to use one of the class roomsj seemed to have kept away some of the children, who were only too glad of an excuse for absenting themselves. It was apparently not generally known that the roof and floor had been repaired, for the attendance had not yet reached what it had been for weeks before Monday f September 9th. Pencils and ink were required. Some discussion took place on the falling off in the attendance, members remarking that generally the weather had been fine. It was agreed that steps should be taken to enforce more regular attendance on the part of some of the pupils, and it was decided tp request the head master to furnish a list of the worst cases, the same to be dealt with at next meeting.—The secretary was authorised to procure the requisites asked for. ; DAMAGE BX THE GALE. : The chairman said that, on hearing of the damage caused to the school by the recent gale Mr Blyth and himself made an examination of it, and, after doing so, wired to the secretary of the Board of Education requesting them to send out their architect to attend to it. They had received no reply, but the H board had had temporary repairs effected.—Members approved of what had been done. The secretary reported that the caretaker had informed him that the gale had blown the roof of the closets off, and the same needed attention at once.—The chairman was authorised to deal with the matter.
