Captain Fairchild reports that all provision depdts at the Kermadecs were visited and found intact, despite reports circulated by passing whalers thst they had been rifled by another ship’s crew. Mr T. Horton, trading at Blenheim under the name of Fell, Bros, and Co., general merchants, has filed a petition in bankruptcy. It is stated that hia only creditor is the Bank of New Zealand, to the tune of close upon £IO,OOO. The Supreme Court criminal sessions opened and closed at Gamaru on Tuesday before Mr Justico Williams. There were nine charges against Michael Morgan and James Anderson for house breaking and larceny, On one of these the prisoners were convicted, and they pleaded guilty to two others. The Crown Prosecutor entered a nolle prosequi in the remainder. Anderson was sentenced to seven years, and ; Morgan to five years. Thomas Cooper .pleaded guilty to forgery, and was placed under probation for a year. H. Goon, a Chinese, for house-break-ing, was sentenced to 9 months, and Thomas Rooney got twd’ years for forgery.
