LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH.

The Inspector of Naisances’ report was read. Among other things he reported that Mr C. E: Sherratt had buried a horse at the rear of his stable in the main street. A considerable amount of discussion took place, some members being in favor of compelling the removal of the horse, and others contending that after the lapse of time since the burial (three weeks) the danger to the public health would be greater by removal than by letting the animal remain. Finally, it was decided to take the latter course, and to notify the public that in future all dead animals must be buried in the ground set apart for the purpose, THE PAH SYSTEM. Mr White moved the proposition standing in his name —“ That a new by-law be made compelling the use of closet pane in the town district, and that the board engage a man to remove the soil.” Mr White supported his motion by pointing out very strongly the great improvement that would follow in the sanitary condition of the town. Mr Mundell seconded the motion. Mr Dunlop thought the motion a good one, but he did not think the state of the town demanded it at present. Mr Mundell said he did not think the system would be a cause of much expense to the board,’ as ho knew for a faet of one person being willing to give a very fair price for the right to remove the soil. After some further discussion, it was decided to notify to the public that it was compulsory to use pans for the future. It was also decided to call tenders for the right to remove the soil; the chairman and clerk to draw up specifications. The meeting then terminated.
