Par lament stands prorogued until November 16tb. In the Speeeh from the Throne it was stated; that relations With the Great Powers are most-cordial, and every confidence was expressed that they will.remain unbroken and that the peace of Europe will be maintained. It mentioned that on the suggestion of England and Belgium, a Conference of the Great Powers will be convened, to meet in the autumn, to: take into codt sidaration the necessity of arresting slavery both on land.*, and on the sea. Reference was made to the satisfactory adjustment of the boundaries of English and French colonies on the i West Coast of Africa, Much'regret was. expressed tbat pressure of time prevented Parlia. want passing the Western Australian Enabling Bill, but it was hoped that this very desirable object will bo effected at an e&rly period. It concluded by stating that signs of growing prosperity are everywhere discernible.
