FOOTBALL.

WAIHI Y. TEMUKA. A match between the above clubs took place at Temuka on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Waihi by 13 points (4 goals and 1 try) to 3 points (1 goal). Only nine of the men picked to play for Temuka turned up at the appointed time, and after getting two recruits they started the game. Two other men turned up in the middle of the spell. Waihi also played one man short in the second spell, Wagstaff having to retire. The Waihi man had the game in their hands all through, their opponents never being dangerous, although they worked hard. G. Velvin potted the goal for Temuka from a little more than half way. Wakely secured two tries and D. Stewart one try for Waihi, two of which Shallard eonverted into goals. Shallard and W. Stewart also potted a goal each, Messrs Meore and Blyth umpired for Waihi and Temuka respectively, while Mr E. Smith carried the whistle.

The football match Auckland v. Hawkes Bay took place at Napier on Saturday, and was won by the former bv 8 points to 3. The match between Nelson and Marlborough at Nelson on Saturday and resulted in the defeat of the latter by 3 points (1 goal) to 1. At Dunedin on Saturday a match between Otago and Southland was won by Southland by 15 points to 1:
