SAMOAN NEWS.
Sydney, August 29. The steamer Lobeck has arrived from Apia harbor. The American warship Adams has arrived in Samoan waters, and the Wolf has been ordered to the China station, Maletoa declines to resume his place as King of Samoa until something more definite has been received from the Berlin Conference. He appears to be much broken down physically and mentally, and wishes to spend the remainder of his days free from political troubles. Mataafa still occupies the throne, Assaults and crime are increasing alarmingly on the part of the natives. The German Consul has ordered the planters not to carry fire-arms. H.M.B. Cormorant has hoisted the British flag on Penrhyn Island, and the Harvey group.
