MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the board was held in the board’s office,’Pdol Forest, on Friday, the I6tH inst. The members, present were Messrs,.R. Mackay, G. J. Dennistoun, R. Thew, and A. Hawdon. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Dennistbuh, was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: From the Hon. J. B. A. Acland, stating that he had interviewed the Auditor-General in reference to having the board’s accounts audited at the office of the board, From the Auditor-General, intimating that in future the accounts of the board would be audited at their office as requested. From the Hon, J. B, A. Acland, in reference to the proposed bridge over Andrew’s Creek, pointing out the convenience of such a bridge for the working of his run. The overseer was instructed to inspect the crossing of the '■ present- : pack 1 track-’ 'with the view of its improvement, and to confer with’Mr Tripp on the matter. ' From Mr J. T. Smith, forwarding plans of the abandoned road at the north end l of* Peel the road proposed to be closed, leading to the Bahgitata, down Bethune’s .cutting. ‘ Frqm the Commissioner of Property Tax, requesting information, relative to section 2829. , From the Manager, Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, stating that the matured 'deposit of £SOO had ■ been placed to tho current account as directed.' '. : ' From Mr T. Mitchell, informing the board that the property lately in Jhe occupation of Mr Alexander Brown had been sold to Mr H. Hamilton, of Clayton,iand requesting that his name be substituted on the rate roll.— I The clerk to write to Mr Hamilton, requesting his consent to the alteration. From Messrs Smithson and Raymond, forwarding form of declaration to be signed in connection with taking the land required for a road through reserve 2195.—The clerk to forward the documents to the chairman for his i signature, • From tho clerk, Geraldine County Council, enclosing returns of Timaru Hospital for the board’s information. From Mr E. M. Goodwin, complaining of the obstruction on the
road leading down the Bahgitata terrace at Bethune’s cutting. Erom the Property Tax Office, directing that the name of Mr J. Dyke Acland be inserted on the rate roll as owner and occupier of section 2829, Orari Porks. ; MrT. Blair interviewed the board in reference to the dram on Sowerby’s road, which he had been ordered by the board to clean out, and asking the board to reconsider their decision.— The board saw no reason for departing from their former decision. V Accounts amounting to £35 15s were passed for payment. The board then adjourned.
