At Gamaru at 3 a.m. on Friday, two men named Michael Morgan and James Anderson were caught by Constable McAlister robbing the tailor’s shop of Eoger and Orerar. A struggle ensued, the constable using his baton and the men their fists and an iron instrument., Eventually both got clear, but .a short time... after Morgan was caught. In connection with the burglary the police visited the house of an old man named Moore and in a roem in his house found a large quantity of goods that had been removed from shops and houses. In the garden they dug up a number of sacks containing goods, and it is expected that more will be found. The men bad evidently visited a large number of places for the purpose of robbbery. Morgan was brought up at the police court and remanded until Monday. Anderson was arrested on Saturday morning.
