KAKAHU COAL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your issue of the 23rd inst., a letter appears signed KM., in which he states that the Kakahu coal will not burn without being mixed with, Newcastle or Westporfc. I must from experience, and in justice to the coal, contradict such a statement. Myself and several otherg are satisfied it will burn, and burn well. The coal wants three things—lst, a grate; 2nd, breaking up pretty small; 3rd, poking. Any coal wants a grate, but every coal will not stand poking, It makes a very nice fire, and is giving satisfaction. The people, I understand, are coming a second time. But the statement of E.M. has hindered some from trying the coal. I would advise them to try it for themselves. '1 he industry deserves encouragement. There is naturally an amount of prejudice which will take some time to break through. My own opinien is that the future of this coal is great, and will make a way for itself.—l am,' etc, G-IVE THE DeYIL HIS DUE. Kakahu, July 29.

[Jfhis ii purely an advertisement, like the previous letter. We have, we think, given, enough publicity to the matter now. We have* done our share in assisting the industry, but we .cannot continue this "thing endlessly. All letters in future dealing with this subject must be paid j;or as advertisements.—The Editor.]
