Messrs Grade, Maclean and Co. report for the past fortnight, ending Saturday, as follows: — Horses —We have again to report an exceedingly small amount of business done, owing to the fact that there are very few draughts coming forward for sale. At the same time there are more buyers attending our yards at present than we have seen for twelve months, and anything fit for ploughing is saleable at full values. Several intending buyers were unable to get their wants supplied to-day. In light horses there are only weedy sorts offering, for which there is no demand. We quote medium draughts at from £l2 to £18; inferior and aged, £6 to £10; hacks, nominal. Sheep—At the Washdyke yards entries have been light, and, although values have not recovered the decline which took place two weeks ago there has been a considerable amount of business done in fat and three-parts fat sheep. We have buyers at present for both of these. We sold on account of sundry owners—-114 2-tooths at 11s Id to 11s 2d, 166 wethers and ewes at 12s 7d, 35 fat ewes at 10s 3d, 160 do do (small) at 6s 6d, 50 ewes in lamb at Bs, 40 do do at 10s, 95 ewes 1 and lls to Us Id. We also disposed of, privately, 650 prime freezers and 140 breeding ewes. Cattle —Only a few head were yarded at either of the last sales. The demand for stores is limited, but in a few weeks from date graziers will be on the move again to get their paddocks stocked. We sold two fat cows at £6, 2 do do at £3 9s, 3 springers at £3 to £4 10s, and privately 35 head prime fat bullocks and cows at equal to 18s per 1001 b. Skins —At our sales on the 10th we catalogued 650 crossbreds and merinos. The usual buyers were in attendance, and full rates were obtained for every lot.
