RIFLE SHOOTING.
The first competition for the Company's Cup of the G-eraldine Eifle Yolunteers took place at the rang©, Geraldine, on Thursday afternoon last. The cup is one that has been purchased by the corps for competition by the members, the ralue being about £5 10s. The cup has to be won twice io succession, or three times at intervals to become the absolute property of any member. There were some nineteen competitors on Thursday last. The weather was not good for shooting, a strong nor'-wester blowing. The conditions of the ; match were 200, 300, and 400 yards, Wimbledon targets and scoring] The following are the scores:— : 200 300 400
Mr Erskine will hold the cup till May 24th next, when it will again be competed for. The fourth competition for Messrs Hallenstien Bros, cup takes place on Thursday, August Ist. In September next the shooting for the company's gold medal commences. This medal is also the property of the corps, and will become the absolute property of the member winning it the most times out of eight competitions, the competitions taking place every three months.
