TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the TemukrjL School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs Hayhurst (Chairman), B. Brown, K. F, Gray, and W. Storey. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. INSPECTOR S REPORT. The Inspector’s report on an interim inspection of the school was read. THE STAFF. Letters were read from the Boat’d of Education, dated 27th June, stating that Mr Gillespie had been appointed to a position in the Temuka school, in accordance with the Committee’s recommendation; also stating that Mr Gillespie and Mr McLeod (who was resigning his position in the Temuka school) would require to give their respective Committees a month’s notice. A letter was also read from Mr McLeod, dated the Dth July, resigning his position in the school, and requesting that he might be relieved from attending after the holidays. —The Secretary was instructed Ip write to the Board of Education, forwarding Mr McLeod’s request. ACCOUNTS. An account for £2 10s was passed for payment. L visitor. Mr K. F. Gray was re-appointed visitor for the ensuing month.' THE ATTENDANCE. In reply to Mr Storey, the Chairman said the attendance bad improved during the year, until tbe last month, when, doubtless, the wet bad weather had affected it. HEAD master’s REPORT. The Head Master, MrW.Bryars, submitted his report for the month of June:— Boys. Girls. Total. Weekly average roll..: 192 172.5 364.5 Averase attendance... 141 130.1 27L1 Highest attendance ... 152 145 297 He suggested that the vacation would be a suitable time for putting up the additional hat pegs required. Owing to illness Miss Phillips was absent from her duties on the 24th to 28th June inclusive.
