THE OMAHU MURDER.
Napier, July 6.
The inquest on the body of Turanga, Karauia, who was shot at Omahu on June 14th, was concluded this after-, noon. No additional facts have been j brought to light. After the Coroner summed up; pointing out the difference between murdleir and manslaughter, the jury retired, and in brought in a verdict equivalent to manslaughter against the prisoner WaatamWi. The Coroner sent them back to reconsider their verdict, telling: them it was dead against the evidence, and he read the 5 definition of what constituted murder and what manslaughter. The jiry came back after a time; saying they could find no other verdict- than 7 1 manslaughter. ! The Coroner repeated that subK a verdict could not be justified bn the evidence, but he would accept it, and order the depositions to be sent 1 to the R.M;fpf further 7 investigation. The prisoner would be charged before the Magistrate with wilful murder.
